When camping outdoors, especially in the wilderness, the coldness of the night can cause an uncomfortable sleeping experience. There are things that you can do in order to make sleeping outdoors more comfortable even in the mountains where the temperature tends to fall drastically at night.

Before setting your tent, you may look for some pine needles and some dry leaves. Use them to form a kind of a natural blanket covering the ground. The pine needles and leaves will stop the dampness of the soil from getting into and coming through the bottom of your tent. Aside from this, you can also place your tent in an area where the direct sunlight can shine on it during daytime, making it warm. The warm fabric of the tent may take longer to cool down at night, thus providing the inside of the tent a relaxing and comfortable warmth. Laying out some layers of blankets across the floor of your tent before rolling out your sleeping bag can also provide comfort and warmth not to mention an additional cushion against the hard and rough ground.

Needless to say, the best way to have a comfortable and good night sleep while camping outdoors is to be properly clothed. Wearing warm and thick clothes is your best defense against the coldness of the night.
